Extra Security Against Leakage
Supplied solely as an aft seal and equipped with four lip seals, the SUPREME SeaGuard delivers extra security against oil leakage into seawater.  By filling the chamber between the third and fourth lip seal with oil from the L.O. tank, the pressure on both sides of the fourth lip seal remains equal. In the event of leakage, the oil supply to this chamber can be shut down. The shut-down changes
the pressure conditions and causes the fourth seal to function as a
second oil repellant lip seal. Docking and maintenance may now be
postponed.
