LIQUIDYNE - innovative pump seal solutions by IHC Lagersmit

LIQUIDYNE LDS

The LIQUIDYNE LDS is best suitable for pumps where the stuffing box pressure can be below atmospheric level. The design may also be applied in pumps that process water that contains relatively much abrasive particles or particles bigger than 100 µm. That is why the LDS design is lubricated with an external flushing water supply (up to 40 bar), which is restricted by the seal itself.

The LIQUIDYNE  LDS:
   •  keeps dirt outside the seal,
   •  reduces the water pressure to atmospheric level and
   •  seals the pump.

Condition monitoring

The LIQUIDYNE’s condition can be monitored at any time, which has three benefits (1) it enhances grip on the maintenance process, (2) avoids sudden pump failure and (3) maximizes Mean Time Between Maintenance (MTBM).

Briefly explained, the LIQUIDYNE uses the lubricating water discharge flow as an indicator of the remaining lifetime. If this discharge flow is at 20% of the initial flow (flow at start-up), maintenance needs to take place. Plotting the decrease in flow allows users to predict the remaining lifetime of the seal.
